Microsoft is commited to Japan

Friday, 24th May 2013 03:34 GMT By Naren Hooson

Despite low lifetime Xbox 360 sales in Japan and the regions loyalty to Nintendo and PlayStation, Xbox One will be launched in Japan.

Courtesy of MCV, Microsoft’s Don Mattrick told a roundtable, “We’re committed to Japan, we continue to build on our partnerships, we continue to build on our offerings for consumers inside of that space.”

“We think it’s an important market. And we’ll continue building on the working investment that we’ve done over all these years.” Mattrick added.

Details of the launch were not discussed but Mattick assured that news for each region will be revealed once key partners have been determined and market strategy built.

Is this a joke? lol Im sorry Microsoft but you’ve already lost over here, hardly anyone at all is interested. Maybe if you weren’t such a typically American, corporate Giant we might be more interested

Haha, good look MS. By the sounds of things atm, Xbox One will do even worse in Japan than the 360 did.

I guess this means they’re going to throw around a metric shit ton of money to take PS4 exclusives. Of course, we saw how well that worked for them in the early days of the 360. All it really ended up doing was condemning the JRPG genre to becoming niche again, after its glory days on the PS1 and PS2.

Save your money Microsoft. The Xbox 360 sells about 1000 units a month in Japan right now. And the Xbox One will do nothing for Japanese consumers. It’s too big, no JRPGs were shown, paying for online, no backward compatibility so users can play all of the great JRPGs that came out on the Xbox 360. The Xbox One is DOA in Japan.

@1 Hope you don’t have a smartphone. Then you will be really paranoid. That thing both has online, gps, camera and microphone! And it follows you everywhere recording everything you say and do, sending it to the secret overlords of the world who are out to get you. Personally! :D

It’ll have a fun battle fighting the Wii U for sales in Japan, Nintendo’s console really is struggling over there.
