Altered Beast 3D heading to 3DS eShop Japan next week

Wednesday, 22nd May 2013 10:19 GMT By Dave Cook

Altered Beast 3D is getting the 3DS eShop treatment, courtesy of Sega. It’s the arcade version and it’ll come with those odd voice-overs intact when it launches on May 29. Altogether now, ‘Rise from your grave’.

Brilliant, isn’t it?

Nintendo Life reports that the game will launch at ¥600 and follows Space Harrier 3D and Sonic the Hedgehog 3D. What other retro delights could Sega be working on for the handheld?

That’s cool, but if they do more (are these by M-2, like Space Harrier 3DS was?) then other z-axis games seem more appropriate, like Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom, Galaxy Force, Zaxxon 3D, Maze Hunter, etc. Or some lesser-known games like AB Cop and Power Drift.

Old isometric games like Landstalker and Congo Bongo might also benefit from 3D.

Wish there were 3D versions of Night Striker and F-Zero.
