Dragon’s Prophet goes into open beta next weekend

Tuesday, 21st May 2013 14:32 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Dragon’s Prophet will go into open beta next week, and to get you ready for some dragon riding action, SOE has released a new trailer showing the mounts and battle partners in action.

The open beta for the US goes live on May 30, and all Dragon’s Prophet Founders will have access to the open beta phase one day early on May 29.

This mean the NDA on the closed beta has been lifted, so expect to see and hear all sorts of things from testers from today.

Runewaker’s F2P MMO will launch sometime this year on PC.

I did give this a bash and whilst the dragons are fun, the gameplay otherwise really isn’t. Plus, the human character aesthetics are horrible, especially for the women. I had lady friends whom I couldn’t even convince to try this simply because the starting armour and ‘showy’ armours for every class were so, so bad.

This is a game for socially and sexually insecure people, definitely. And those who like the usual grindfests with a novelty tacked on. But it’s definitely not a good MMO in its own right.

I wish it was. The dragon mechanics had promise, but instead of focusing on them they just made them a gimmick. So it’s just ‘another standard MMO with a gimmick.’ Nothing too special.
