The Starship Damrey is " a bit retro", supposed to be hard

If you're struggling to figure out The Starship Damrey, congratulations: you got the point.

The 3DS eShop exclusive is supposed to feel "a bit retro" while still being something new, the game's designer and writer said in a developer diary video.

The way the "retro" part manifests is as a lack of hand-holding; the adventure is supposed to puzzle you a bit.

“Back in the day, games didn’t give players much to go on, and you could get stuck right at the beginning,” write Takemaru Abiko said.

“That’s kind of what we were going for on this project.”

A bit like the vibe From Software was going for with Demon's Souls, then. Delicious. The Starship Damrey is part of Guild02, a compilation of 3DS games published by Level-5 but designed by various guests.
