Journey producer to keynote Boston Festival of Indie Games

Best known for her role as producer of thatgamecompany's Journey, Robin Hunicke will open the 2013 Boston Festival of Indie Games.

Polygon reports her presentation is called "Finding Meaning in Gameplay" and will encourage developers to "inspire new feelings by looking inward and examining the everyday experiences of their own lives" with their games.

"Our biggest strength as a community is our willingness to share ideas and dialog about what the future of the medium will be," Hunicke said.

Pripor to joining thatgamecompany, Hunicke worked at EA on MySims and Boom Blox. After Journey wrapped, she joined Tiny Speck, and when the ill-fated MMO publisher regretfully let its team go, founded Funomena with fellow thatgamecompany alumni Martin Middleton.

The Boston Festival of Indie Games is in its second year, and will be held on September 14. It is being funded via Kickstarter.
