Contraption Maker to follow in The Incredible Machine's footsteps

Or possibly tyre treads; but you get the idea. Contraption Makers is a spiritual successor to The Incredible Machine from the creators of the original Sierra franchise.

Eurogamer reports Incredible Machine creators Jeff Tunnell, Kevin Ryan and Brian Hahn are working with Spotkin on the new physics-based puzzler.

As with the 90's series, the goal is to piece together complicated machines from simple components in order to solve various problems. What makes the resulting devices so incredible is that some of the available ingredients include things like alligators. It's all a bit silly, and the formula probably inspired later games like Scribblenauts.

Contraption Maker will include a free mod with no objectives; a co-op mode; and community features like sharing puzzles and mods. It's due on Mac and PC, and an alpha will be available in northern summer.
