Skullgirls Wii U unlikely due to weak sales and lack of digital presence

Monday, 13th May 2013 14:54 GMT By Dave Cook

Skullgirls developer Lab Zero has discussed the likelihood of releasing its fighter on Nintendo’s Wii U eShop. Chances are looking slim at the moment, however.

The game’s official Twitter feed responded to a one fan, who asked if the game was coming to Wii U. They then had this to say:

Would you say that the above is justified, or is Nintendo taking active steps to broaden it digital storefront? Let us know what you think below.

    I say it’s justified. It makes good business sense.

    Wait until console sales pick up later this year when the Nintendo’s exclusives drop and then when it port it over.

    you know part of me is glad the Wii U is bombing cause the Wii didn’t deserve the success it got. It wasn’t a long term console and Nintendo got a shit load of money on a casual gimmick. Now its biting them back in the ass.

    Yeah, because Nintendo can not survive without a niche, 2D, downloadable fighting game.

    I’m not saying Skullgirls is bad (it is AWESOME and in some regards, a modern fighting classic) but this is not one of those omissions that can hurt Wii U, let alone Nintendo. Madden and Battlefield are big blows but they still have COD and FIFA. If they opt out, then Nintnedo is gonna have serious problems going forward.

    Maybe they can beg cap in hand for a Kickstarter for the Wii U version. alternatively, I doubt their studio will be around to see the Wii U change fortunes.

    @3 Now now, play nice.
