Jade is pretty much the Goddess of gaming at this point. She’s gorgeous, she’s smart, and she deserves to be praised for all shes accomplished in this industry.

Great interview by the way. You should try to get an exclusive interview with that Patrice guy who got fired from UbiSoft. I wanna get the scoop behind all that drama. Also kinda curious what kind of shoes was Jade wearing during this interview? High heels, sneakers, or boots? open toe sandals perhaps? :D

  16. DarkElfa

Well you can’t have your cake and eat it too. The minute she decided it was okay to let Ubisoft use her as a pretty face for promotion, the mistake was already made.

The internet does not suffer fools nor the foolish, she does not forgive and she does not forget. To those who sail the sea of fame, she is the Kraken, one misstep and she will pull you down into the depths and swallow you whole…

The meme possibilities alone in the group picture are awesome, just looking at the faces of some of the people there. One dude in the back falling asleep while standing up, one guy that looks like he was just there delivering a UPS package and decided to pose anyway, several are just completely ignoring the fact they’re in a group photo and talking to each other or looking away like “fuck this shit I have games to make.” It’s a shame all of those got passed up.

Okay, seriously theevillaires…do you even realize what kind of bullshit you are writing?

“I wonder how many guys their wish they could have her. Seeing her walk around the office all day I know she can feel eyes undressing her.”

Are you fucking serious? Jade Raymond is a pretty looking lady. Yes. She is also a grown, married women, just like the whole office is full of other grown, married women and men. They aren’t 15 years old, barking after every girl they meet.

This woman did a lot for this industry and proved she does great work. Yet, she and pretty much every other woman in this industry has to deal with people debating how hot she is, rather than what she does and what she is talking about.

Seriously, get out of your room and meet a girl yourself. Maybe then you can stop fantasizing about a married female developer living in canada. Jesus.

^I always assumed theevilaries was 15 himself.

I’m actually surprised to see him lusting after a real woman after he said the following about the cast of Final Fantasy X-2, “real life women would/could never be this kick ass because all they do is whine, bitch and moan all day.”

This whole Jade Raymond foot fetish business may actually be a step up for him.

  23. monkeygourmet

I don’t know much about Jade Raymond, but from articles I have come across, Ubisoft seem to pimp her out.

The picture someone linked earlier is a good example. You can’t really do stuff like that then complain later.

Also, other people seem to like complaining about the sex symbol stuff on her behalf, how gallant.

If anything they should complain about Ubisoft pimping her ass out.

    #23 2 years ago
  24. Ristas

Really? Because i don’t read about how sexy Cliff Bleszinski is when i watch or read an interview with him. Same with Richard Garriot, Peter Molyneux, Patrice Desilets, anyone really. There are a lot of big names in game development, but only when they are female, they are getting reduced to their looks.

The second a female is involved in gaming journalism – doesn’t matter if she’s a journalist or a developer – it takes only a few comments until they are strictly about her looks. Every. single. time.

  25. rbevanx

    @ps3fanboy
    Haha brilliant trolling.

Get a grip guys, it’s the net/videogames it was inevitable.

On her career I think she has been very lucky and it’s Patrice Desilets who has made Ubi-Soft and they fired him again!

She deserves the jokes as she’s crap and brings out broken games, Sod her.

@24 I am not taking up for the Internet here – I agree it seems to be more rampant here than irl – but it happens in other professions as well.

My mother worked as an LCSW at a private practice for a few years and wasn’t taken seriously by many in her field because she was drop dead gorgeous (still is, honestly). I guess they thought she either wasn’t smart or sailed by on her looks. Mom worked her ass off to get that degree going to school at night while working at a bank during the day to help pay the bills. So that bugged the shit out of me.

Anyway, She didn’t fit in with anyone in the area in her profession as she didn’t wear Birkenstocks nor was she Lilith from Frazier. She had clients ask her out, one even stalked her for a while, and the other people in firm either hit on her or if they were a woman they talked about her behind her back.

So, it’s not just the games industry that automatically sees a pretty woman and laser focuses on that aspect more than her qualifications, it’s got its roots in every profession. The Internet just brings the games and tech industry more into focus.

@26: I’d say the number one reason the industry is in the shitter is because of people buying disrespectful spinoffs and sequels just because they’re marketed out the ass and people actually think their purchases of soulless Hollywood wannabe junk are somehow progressing the industry. You can have people acting like asshats toward the people that create games but still have great games if the asinine and insulting ones are discouraged and the good and respectful ones are encouraged.

Perhaps we men should be more respectful and behave more like women do in always and without any fail focussing purely on things like emotional intelligence, honour and kindness to animals. As every ugly man knows, all women treat all men with decency and respect and unfailingly look past the surface and examine the heart when looking for a suitable life partner and mate. And women never, EVER objectify men. Just ask Goerge Clooney

Oh, next time you are in a newsagents, pick up several different types of women’s magazines and have a quick thumb through. Not just the “Rape! Incest! MURDER!” sector (which, by the way, is a roaring success across all female income and social groups), but supposedly respectful titles based in Manhattan and edited by friends of presidents.

Women are not the slightest bit different from men. They are just as likely to focus on attractiveness and desirability as are men, and just as likely to use their attractiveness and desirability to influence people or gain benefits – probably more so. And while I’m at it, if you are willing to look for it, you’ll find that a huge body of research has proved that women are no less titilated and aroused by hard core pornography.

@27, It’s just the way so many were brought up to see and understand women and beauty. In this world pretty people are treated different than the rest of us and once they figure that out, like any person with an advantage, we expect them to use that advantage to move ahead.

Hell we see that everyday at work, school, on the web, in magazines and on TV. Hot women doing hot women things for fame and fortune. Bikinis, sex and stupidity. Those less fortunate see them and hate them for both their luck and their use of it.

Things were no different for your mom. When people less attractive saw her at the top while they remained at the bottom, they could only surmise her beauty play a part in some or all of her rise to the top and regardless of whether she intentionally used her looks to aid her in her rise, you can guarantee they helped her get there and people know that as well.

Jade Raymond is no different. She may or may not have used her looks to move ahead, that’s really not for any of us to know, but they certainly didn’t hurt her career.
