Hellraid eschews open world for independent maps

Although you may have been expecting "Dead Island in a dungeon", TechLand's new first-person melee title is apparently somewhat different.

According to a Eurogamer preview, Hellraid doesn't have an open world like Dead Island, instead utilising "a series of open-ended maps".

The levelling system is different from Dead Island's, too, described as "stripped-back".

Other than that, we now know the four classes - Warrior, Mage, Paladin and Rogue - and that magic is an important part of combat. Abilities include fire, telekinesis and lightning.

Like Dead island, Hellraid was built on TechLand's Chrome Engine 5, and is hopefully coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this year - assuming a publisher can be found.
