Plants vs Zombies 2: It’s About Time due in July

Tuesday, 7th May 2013 00:10 GMT By Brenna Hillier

The long-awaited Plants vs Zombies 2 finally has a release window, and an extremely pertinent subtitle.

PopCap confirmed the release date on Facebook, as well as in a teaser trailer available below, which features a number of Internet personalities including Xbox’x Major Nelson.

Since the sequel was announced in August last year and has been largely silent since then – besides word of a delay – the new subtitle is quite fitting, isn’t it?

No precise dating, pricing or platforms have been announced. The smash hit Plants vs Zombies originally released on Mac and PC, so we can probably expect the followup to do the same, but it’s worth remembering that it went on to launch on mobile and consoles; with EA’s grunt behind PopCap we may see a sim-ship on multiple formats.

Thanks, Johnny.

Hmm? Certainly there seem to have been plenty of firings, but what do you mean PopCap fails?

@2 I may have jumped the gun and attributed some of EAs other failed mobile/social ventures to them.

Have they had a hit since they were aquired by EA though?

Ah, yes, I see – the Playfish closures and such.

I’m not sure PopCap has had a major release since the acquisition, actually. It’s been pretty quiet, working on ports and spin-offs. The only new thing it’s produced, IIRC, is Solitaire Blitz, and who knows how that’s going. I wouldn’t call it a big release, anyway.

this will be F2P right? hmmm…don´t know if if that´s true but i wouldn´t like it. we´ll see how it´ll turn out. will play it either way.

i just bought PvZ a few days ago for the vita and i cannot put it down…the only problem. my girlfriend is even more addicted to it so we have to fight about the vita. very late to the party but so glad i finally picked the game up. so much content in there it´s just insane. great value. gameplay and funwise: 10/10. flawless.

it´s funny that games like this easily steal the triple a´s the show. i am playing through BF3 atm for the second time because it was on ps+. the first time i played it on the 360 and i didn´t enjoy it as much as bfbc2 but still liked it. now on my second playthrough i can´t believe how shit that game really is. it´s no fun at all actually.

games like hotline miami, retro city rampage, guacamelee, rocketbirds, pixeljunk monsters, PvZ, velocity ultra and soon dragons crown and duck tales remastered are the must play games these days…all the cods and ass creeds bore the shit out of me.

i am very positive about all this though. it´s great to have the variety.
