Tomb Raider Steam sale offers savings

Friday, 3rd May 2013 06:10 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Square Enix is feeling quite generous at the moment it seems; its offering Tomb Raider at 50% off on Steam, which depending on territory could be as little as $25. It’s also knocked 50% off the Tomb Raider Collection, a sizable bundle with every PC release to date, although not DLC. The sale is available until 10:00AM PST on Monday.

Thanks, Joystiq.

Two interpretations of this decision I can think of are either that Crystal Dynamics is trying to boost sales figures to hopefully convince Squeenix to fund a sequel to this thing, or Squeenix already considers Tomb Raider to be such a financial failure that they’re doing everything they can to get every penny out of the game.

I’ve been noticing this game listed as a sale or special deal everywhere with increasingly lower prices, and it’s only been out for two months. Contrast that with FF13, which I remember used copies started selling for very little not long after its release, but I’m pretty sure it took more than a year for official sale prices to reach as low as this game has.

I bought this the other day, so I saw that headline and my heart sank. However, GMG had it up for £14.99 with a discount down to £12 so phew :D

Still too expensive for what it’s worth.

I’m not saying this game isn’t worth. I heard this game is really good. But it has like 12- 15 hours gameplay. so im gonna wait until it drops to 7.5$. Just like Hitman dropped to 7.5$ within 5 months. Square really should do cost cutting when making games. if 3.6 million sales within 1 month isnt enough for game publishers every game that isnt COD or BF gonna fail hard.

Games that are with AMD bundle tend to get cheap fast, AFAIK.
