Wednesday, 1st May 2013 19:51 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Microsoft will stream its pre-E3 press conference, which takes place at the Galen Center on the University of Southern California campus Monday, June 10. Press invites started rolling out this afternoon, and while it’s not open to the public, Major Nelson will be giving away passes starting next week. Details on how to watch the proceedings will be announced next month. E3 takes place June 11-13.

So far Microsoft have a strategy to kick ass, while Sony not really.

@1 Best to wait to see what the strategy from MS is before declaring a winner, eh?

The PS4 reveal was underwhelming (apart from the spec sheet, which will probably be matched by the NextBox). Doesn’t mean 21 May will bring better. Rumours? Keep them.

@4, At least MS knows what they are doing.

Call Of Duty is going to be revealed. t’s not like i’m super excited about it, but from a business perspective it’s cool and a lot of people want to see new game that has new engine.
Maybe we will see new Respawn’s game.

I think MS knows what they want from the new Xbox.

As you said, PS4 announcement was forgettable and underwhelming. I think Sony is playing really safe this generation. They lost a lot of money and they are not trying to be as big as before. MS on the other hand wants to be a king. It really want’s that.

I just hope that we will not see Kinect and services bullshit for thousand hours. I know it should be there but they need to keep a balance of games * Services * Kinect innovation and they will win.

I expect we can watch it on the Live event player on Xbox Live again, right?

In terms of games i’m expecting…..

    - Rare’s game (which is said to be a physics driven Kinect game)
    - PGR5 or Forza but i think the former
    - Ryse (Kinect+controller hybrid)
    - Lionhead’s new game, probably MMO
    - The rumoured zombie game
    - Alan Wake 2?

Or are my expectations unrealistic now ? :)

If you think MS conference / event will be an awesome games blowout, you are in for a huge disappointment. Sure, they’ll probably start the May event with COD footage but guess what? They did so during the years with Kinect only / Skiddles E3 presentations.

This is about “Home Entertainment” to them. Kinect 2, always-connected ads and other crap like that.

Sony conference was also not the biggest gaming blowout as everyone hoped.

Best to wait to see what they are doing.

I didn’t say the PS event was forgettable. I was just disappointed – as many – with the lack of a console and more information about games.

COD reveal? Yes, it will bring in the largely 14 year old fanbois, but oh so tiresome and unoriginal for the rest of us.

Doesn’t Microsoft always stream their E3 conferences?

Pre E3 though? Isn’t it always named E3 press conference? Or is this another event before the real press conference?

True. It was underwhelming but that’s my point. MS will only be less game focused because their target is entertainment as a whole. Maybe Sony wants that to but so far, MS has shown more preference and they do have a popular, mainstream, gimmicky device in form of Kinect.

Sony is trying to catch up with them via their creepy new cam but they won’t. Their best chance is to release a PS1 / PS2 like console: Focus on core to mid-core games, raise the user base and hope for casual mega success stories like Buzz, Singstar, Guitar Hero and stuff like that alongside CODs and ACs and GTAs.

best thing about microsoft is that they don’t even have to announce the games, every one knows more than half of it will be the same old ips again and again and again.. old Ips really need to die
