Lovefilm PS3 app update rolling out today, adds HD streaming

Wednesday, 1st May 2013 13:05 GMT By Dave Cook

Lovefilm’s PS3 player is getting an update today across the UK and Germany, which adds and HD streaming option.

Now, I would have thought HD streaming is standard for any kind of app like Lovefilm, but maybe that’s just me.

Anyway, Eurogamer reports that Amazon is rolling out the update today in both countries and that it will eventually make its way to other regions and versions of Lovefilm Instant in due course.

There’s also the option to resume playback on any Lovefilm-enabled device, a Watchlist feature that lets you create unlimited playlists and a new recommendation engine for suggested titles.

Do you use Lovefilm on PS3? Does it work well? How could it be improved? Let us know below.

The PS3 LoveFilm app when it launched actually had better quality streaming than the standard (576p possibly). It just didn’t get updated when HD versions became available.

I had Netflix for a bit but stopped when I ran out of things to watch. I’d like one of them to pick up some HBO stuff in the UK but it seems unlikely. Maybe NowTV when it branches into TV and not just movies.

I use LoveFilm on Xbox, my Gold ran out this morning, so I used my PS3 to finish off watching Lost.

I can safely say that the PS3 version is now the best version out of the home consoles, due to this update. Shame it had to take so long.

^ better late than never. SONY has way more important things to get done than lovefilm, but bet your ass one thing. If its on PlayStation it will be the best eventually. SONY has done a great job with the PS3 this gen.
