Xbox Live Gold to be free in UK this weekend

Microsoft is hosting another free Xbox Live Gold weekend in the UK, which runs May 3-5. Now, Silver users can try their hand at multiplayer multiplayer across all games for the system which include the mode. Those who are already subs will be gifted with TV tokens, enabling them to watch various shows through Xbox Video. Plan your weekend accordingly. Thanks, CVG.

If they would just make multiplayer free Sony would have a very hard time beating them in the next generation but it would be better to start doing it this generation.

@1 The next XBox is rumoured to have subscription and non-subscription models in the works. Not sure how that would work in practice though – i.e. if it’s as simple as that. But in my experience, XBox subs dissuade very few from buying the MS console. Most gamers have very specific reasons for favouring their console(s) of choice, and most of them are willing to pay what it takes – within reason (hello PS3 launch price).
