Thomas Was Alone developer's next game may have UGC

Mike Bithell wants players to be able to tell stories of their own in his new game.

"My biggest regret in Thomas Was Alone was not inviting players to take part in the creation of the game, via writing stuff, or level design," the independent developer told Kotaku,

"So that’s a big theme of the next game, working out ways that I can tell the stories I want to tell, while opening up some opportunities for others to do the same."

Bithell said that his second solo game will be a departure "in that it’s not a game about jumping rectangles" but retains a focus on combining gameplay and storytelling.

Thomas Was Alone hit PlayStation 3 and Vita last week, after a successful PC release last year. It inspired Bithell to go independent, leaving his position at Bossa.
