Guild Wars 2 gets free, retro-themed 2D platformer

Wednesday, 24th April 2013 08:38 GMT By Dave Cook

Guild Wars 2 developer ArenaNet has released a 2D retro platformer called Rytlock’s Critter Rampage. You can play it for free in your browser now. Warning: contains carrots.

The game can be found here for free, and was created following the studio’s well-received ‘Super Adventure Box’ April Fool’s prank that saw a retro-themed domain pop up inside the MMO.

Have a blast of the game above and let us know what you think.

Thanks Joystiq.

Between this and the jumping puzzles in GW2, I’m completely convinced of ArenaNet’s ability to create a good platformer. I really think they should. The multiplayer adventures of a bunch of kids across the lands of Tyria would be a blast. Sort of a steampunk-fantasy Ratchet & Clank, if you will.

It won’t happen, but I can dream.
