BioShock 2 lead designer now at Harmonix as small number of layoffs hit the studio

Bioshock 2 lead designer Zak McClendon has jumped ship for Harmonix as Design Director, according to his online CV. The Rock Band studio appears to be gearing up towards something massive, if recent rumours are to be believed.

Intrepid web snooper Superannuation tweeted out a link to McClendon's LinkedIn profile this morning, confirming he is now at the Boston studio.

We've been hearing a lot of rumours regarding whatever it is Harmonix is working on next. Venture capitalist Brad Feld recently joined the studio's board after it wowed him with three mind-blowing projects.

One project is believed to be Chroma, following a trademark registration last year. Some sources are saying it's a shooter.

In the middle of this, a small number of employees have been laid off, with Polygon being the move affected around 10 people as part of projects winding down.

A statement from the developer handed to Polygon reads as follows: "We can confirm that a small number of Harmonix employees were let go today.

"This decision was made due to shifting staffing priorities for Harmonix's multiple future projects."
