Llamasoft returning to Tempest roots with TxK for Vita

Thursday, 11th April 2013 16:06 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Llamasoft plans to release a reboot of Tempest 2000 for Vita called TxK. The game was originally released 19 years ago on Atari’s Jaguar.

“We’re going to base it on the essence of the original T2K,” wrote Jeff Minter on his blog. “It’ll be the pure, straightforward shooter that maybe you hoped for when you first saw Space Giraffe.

“We’re not going to overload you with ultra psychedelia, but we will make it fluid and colourful and awesome-looking on the Vita’s delicious, vibrant OLED screen.

“We’re going to give you a perfect treat for your eyes, ears and thumbs with a modern extrapolation of one of the best shooters ever made on hardware that’s just perfectly suited for it, and in a way that retains the purity of the original design.”

The game doesn’t have a release date at present.

Thanks, Eurogamer.

    SOLD. Day fucking 1.

I enjoy twitch gaming. The best twitch games are the ones you can sort of get into a zen-like state where you’re just in tune with the game. Jeff Minter seems to have the knack of delivering that sort of game that does that to me over and over and over. I don’t know how he does it, but he does it.

And Space Giraffe is one of my favorite 360 games ever. Fuck the haters!
