There it is. Germany’s 10th-most successful game of 2012. Sadly, i am not kidding.

Here’s an anecdote for you from gamescom 2011. I was walking through one of the halls on my way to interview Gabe Newell (shameless brag, yep) and I walked past the Farming Simulator stand, where a man in shades and a suit was shouting in German through a megaphone, directly into the faces of young gamers almost climbing over themselves to get free t-shirts that two supermodels at the front were handing out.

The game is indeed popular in some countries.

I seriously felt like I was dreaming when I saw that.

I’m interested enough to try the demo :P

Farming as a concept is a pretty great fit for a game. I’m not sure that goes for driving tractors and combines as such, but I really miss games like SimFarm.

It was just really cool to tend to your fields and get a certain result based on that “season” of work, and all the factors going into your fields. It’s odd that people aren’t making games like that anymore.

@10 Or a new Harvest Moon, that was a good game in the PS1 and PS2

@11 Never did try that, but the possibilities are endless. You could even combine a farm simulation with a defense game, keeping all manner of critters out of your fields.

Shit. Indies should really get right on that.

    Is there cow tipping?

@13 I actually did try the demo (lololol) and there’s barely any physics, so I just don’t see cow tipping as being very satisfying even if it were included.

You could always get ArmA 3 and drop a half ton bomb on one though?

    Nah man!

    I don’t wanna nuke any cows…

I just wanna push them over while they’re asleep!

That is inherently noble. I tip my hat to you, sir.
