HMV: 140 stores saved in Hilco buyout - report

Teetering UK retail chain HMV has reportedly been saved by a last-minute buy-out.

According to Sky News, Hilco UK will cough up £50 million for the chain.

As part of the deal, 140 stores will be saved from closure, which is no doubt a massive relief to the 2,500 staff employed in them. Nine Fopp stores will also remain in operation.

MCV reports that a number of stories expected to close have been given a reprieve by the news, but 90 have already felt the axe.
