Half-Life on Evil Dead director’s radar

Thursday, 4th April 2013 00:13 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Evil Dead remake director Fede Alvarez is keen to tckle the adventures of Gordon Freeman, according to a Yahoo Movies report. “I really want to make a Half-Life movie at some point – but I’d heard it was impossible because Spielberg wanted to make it. That’s definitely one that I’ve always dreamed of making into a movie though,” the Panic Attack creator said. It looks like JJ Abrams has pipped him at the post, though.

Ok, reading the Spielberg part was really worrying. Please DON’T let that man touch Half-Life. I like Jaws, Duel and some of other Spielberg films but he is not the man for HL.

This guy on the other hand could be great. The new Evil Dead has been getting some decent reviews and it is gory as hell.

Spielberg would be the best for the movie as he earned such a perfect balance between great looking sci-fi and deep, multi-layered dramatic storytelling. Neill Blomkamp would be my other choice but I think he’s in with Halo.

Themes of slavery, dictatorship and now politics, conspiracy and others are Spielberg’s trademark (I’m talking of him as a DIRECTOR) among many others. I can’t see a good Half-Life film if not done by him and going deep into the philosophical subjects of the game’s plot… you really don’t want to see a first person movie with guns and aliens all around because and experiment went wrong and G-man sends the troops while Gordon fights his way up with a guard and scientist as pals saying one liners and making sarcastic jokes about food and the aliens’ looks.
