Camelot Unchained engine supports 10,000 characters on screen

Camelot Unchained has a custom engine, a bold move designed to support its core conceit: genuinely massive player battles. In a Kickstarter update, Mark Jacobs shared a video showing off how the early engine tech can already support 10,000 characters on screen with no frame-rate drop. It comes at the cost of fancy lighting and effects, but the MMO’s signature, core feature is clearly possible. Take a look through the link.

    I saw this, not sure what it proves? How many modern engines can’t handle low detail models at this magnitude?

    The big test is internet lag between actual players, and I don’t think it’s a battle they’ll win.

    That said, loved DaoC and already backing this with my $110.
