Tomodachi Collection: New Life detailed 

Nintendo Japan has updated the website for Tomodachi Collection: New Life, finally giving us some insight into the sequel to one of the DS's massive hits.

As translated by Siliconera, New Life takes the Miis and you and your friends and plonks them down in an apartment building on an island.

You can create a new Mii or import your existing Nintendo persona from your 3DS (or even from the original Tomodachi Collection via an eShop app), and collect friends' Miis using QR codes.

It's not just how the Mii looks that matters, though; you'll have to select various personality traits, too, after which the game extrapolates your Mii's actions based on your choices. Assuming you and your friends make real-life Miis, you should get on as normal, but you can end up fighting or falling in love. It sounds like The Sims, only you don't even have to pretend you're not just living out your fantasy of shagging your good-looking gaming buddies.

As well as the life sim part, there are mini-games which can reward you with items, and occasionally you'll have to help other Mii's out with their problems - including love troubles. Play your cards right and your Miis will start breeding. Oh my god I can't tell if this is awful or the best thing ever; imagine hooking your Mii up with Reggie's or Iwata's.

Originally released on DS, Tomodachi Colleciton was a best-seller in Japan for literal years. The 3DS follow-up was announced at Nintendo's TGS 2011 conference with a frankly eerie video.

We hadn't heard much else about it until earlier this year when Nintendo put an April 18 Japanese release date to it; it's going to be bundled with the Mint White 3DS XL, too. No word on western release yet.
