Guild Wars 2 adds month-long Super Adventure Box

We don't normally post April Fool's Day stuff, but this one isn't a joke. ArenaNet has actually put together a retro-style adventure update for Guild Wars 2.

The Super Adventure Box is available for the month of April, and can be obtained by visiting Moto in Rata Sum. As you'll see in the screens and trailer below, it adds three levels of retro-styled platforming with 256-colour graphics. Fall damage is off, and as well as exploring, players can swap baubles for weapons and skills inside the box, or even score souvenir weapon skins from Moto so they can always remember their April adventures.

“It started out as a fun side project idea. Originally, we were going to have a laugh with a fake 8-bit update, but the more the team worked on it the more we realised we had something really cool on our hands," game director Colin Johanson said.

"We figured; the gaming community are really going to love this, let’s expand on the concept of the Living World in Guild Wars 2 and make it for real."
