Star Wars: The Old Republic APAC servers to close

BioWare has announced the closure of Star Wars: the Old Republic's Asia Pacific servers, with local gamers to be shuffled over to new homes on North American hardware.

Following consultation with players, BioWare has decided to merge the MMORPG's APAC servers with high population NA servers, to give everyone the chance to play in a busy realm. The specific mergers are as follows:

  • Mastar Dar’Nala (PvP) will transfer to The Bastion (PvP)
  • Gav Daragon (RP-PvE) will transfer to Begeren Colony (RP-PvE)
  • Dalborra (PvE) will transfer to The Harbinger (PvE)

The developer cannot give a timeframe at present, as it has to update its character transfer system to cope with recent updates and the upcoming Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion, as well as its server merge technology.

"We are moving as quickly as we can to make this happen, but we want to make sure this is a smooth transition, so it will take some time," a community manager wrote.

More details are available on the SWTOR forums.
