Rain producer hopes to live up to Journey, The Unfinished Swan

Sony's recent successes with downloadable games proves the market is ready for games like Rain, according to the SCE Japan title's associate producer.

Speaking with CVG, SCE Japan's Ken Suzuta said such illustrious stablemates is both inspiring and daunting.

"We feel very excited because it shows there's a market out there for people who download digital games," he said.

"Obviously we want to make Rain as big as those titles. We do have that pressure but it motivates us to deliver a good game."

There are some parallels between Rain's development and both Journey and The Unfinished Swan. Rain is a product of PlayStation C.A.M.P, an initiative whereby amateur designers submit ideas which are then built by SCE Japan. Meanwhile, both thatgamecompany and Giant Sparrow were chosen to be "incubated" inside SCE Santa Monica.

Rain is expected later this year on PlayStation 3.
