Borderlands 2's next DLC character is a Psycho Bandit

Woah, now here's a thing - Borderland 2's sixth vault hunter is a playable version of one of the franchise's most recognisable enemies, the Psycho Bandit.

Gearbox Software made good on teases by unveiling the character at PAX East this weekend; check out a very short trailer below.

Called Krieg, the new character will be available on May 10 for $10 - he's not part of the season pass or pre-order bonuses.

Krieg's special ability is a melee attack using his Buzz Axe, which refills his health.

Kotaku has a couple of images from Krieg's three skill trees. The Hellborn tree grants bonuses with fire damage and when krieg himself is on fire. The Blodlust tree grants damage bonuses from explosive kills, and also increases grenade drop chance to help you pile on more stacks, Finally, the Mania tree is described as the ultimate in high risk, high reward set-ups; it makes the Buzz Axe recharge much faster, and turns on friendly fire. Imagine that in co-op; you hammering away with a powerful melee attack and constantly refilling your health bar while your teammates shoot wildly, helping you get your health back down quickly.

During its panel, Gearbox also detailed a couple of upcoming DLC packs and updates, as well as promising more Loot Chest special editions.
