Diablo 3 may allow for item stat tweaking in future update

Diablo 3 developer Blizzard is playing around with the idea of letting players customise their item stats. It may be possible to reduce some stats of a certain item in order to give others a boost. Either way, the studio is considering it.

Speaking with IncGamers, Diablo 3's associate game designer Don Vu said, "Giving players more control and customization of their item stats is something we talk about a lot in our office. There have been a lot of ideas thrown around here and some great suggestions from the community, but we have not finalized any systems yet.”

It may also be possible to create items with slots for certain affixes, letting players modify items to a new degree. The team is currently undecided however, as it's a direction Blizzard really has to think about before heading down a particular path.

Vu concluded, "All of these systems have their positives and negatives. So we want to make sure we make the right choice and consider all other changes we plan on making before deciding which systems we want to implement.”
