Star Trek: The Video Game has a new trailer focusing on the Gorn, which delves into the mythos and “the mystery” of this lizard man. In the game, he is much different that the Gorn James Tiberius Kirk faced off with in the “Arena” episode of the original Star Trek series. Plus, the creature is not wearing what resembles a cocktail dress. Matter of fact, it’s some aren’t wearing anything at all. Check out the video below. Developed by Digital Extremes, the action-shooter release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 April 26.

I think Star Trek Online did a better and more magnanimous job with them, personally. They were with the Klingons becaus the Federation kept raiding their burial sites and not giving a shit when the gorn complained. And rebutting every last diplomatic attempt for the gorn to get those worlds back. It’s always nice when things aren’t purely black and white.

It’s rare that I praise the writing of an MMO but the lore was actually really good. The actual writing, though? Not so much.

Sure is a lot of cues from Mass Effect. Then again, I imagine the creators of ME got some inspiration from Star Trek so I guess they can’t really complain. They need to do some original gameplay though.

it’s sort of like the Uncharted and Tomb Raider situation.

@1: ” but the lore was actually really good. The actual writing, though? Not so much.”

Isn’t that usually the case? I mean the elder scrolls is supposed to have an amazing lore, but the actual writing of the series has been pretty pretty terrible without any exception.
