Total War: Rome 2 fan falls victim to cancer, immortalised in-game

Total War: Rome 2 includes one very special character – a soldier modelled on a 24 year-old fan who recently passed away due to liver cancer. Prior to his passing, The Creative Assembly allowed the passionate strategy fan to tour the studio, play an alpha build, and pose for his digital recreation. Eurogamer has a touching article on how The Creative Assembly rallied round the young man and was quite cut by his death. Total War: Rome 2 arrives on PC sometime this year.

It’s awesome when devs do these kinds of things. Gearbox did something similar for a fan and put him in Borderlands 2 as a rare NPC.

Faith in humanity…restored!

A really nice gesture. And I can’t begin to imagine how it will be for the guy’s brother to play the game and see his brother there as a character…just wow.

This is the kind of thing that makes me glad to be a human. And these moments are far, far too rare.
