Skyrim patch beta offers Legendary difficulty setting

The next patch for the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim allows for optional removal of the level cap; a higher difficulty setting; and about a gazillion bug fixes.

Skyrim update 1.9 is now available for beta testing ahead of an expected release later this month, and includes a couple of interesting new features.

We don't have many details on the new Legendary difficulty setting, but there is another more detailed little note regarding Legendary Skills.

"Skills of 100 can be made Legendary. This will reset the skill to 15, return its Perks and allow the skill to affect leveling again. This effectively removes the overall level cap," the developer noted.

Skyrim patches always hit PC first but make their way to consoles eventually, so expect these features to reach the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime in the future.

Full patch notes are available on the Bethesda Blog. To opt in, view the properties menu for Skyrim in your Steam client, and check the beta box.
