Pokemon Rumble U: NFC figures revealed, priced

Pokemon Rumble U is taking a Skylanders approach to the wee critters, by supporting plastic figures that can be scanned into Nintendo's console using NFC technology. The first images of the toys have been revealed and priced for Japan.

Kotaku reports that the game will launch alongside a starter set of figures, which includes Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Torchic, Piplup, Lucario, Victini and a special, secret creature. See the full set here.

However, the toys will be sold individually through capsule-based vending machines - similar to Gacha Balls - and priced ¥200 each (around £2). While it's a novel idea you won't know which creature you're getting until you pop the lid off. Who wants ten Snorelax, for example?

Nintendo is also selling a carry case for your Pokemon, that will be priced at ¥780 (around £7.99). See it here.
