Skullgirls getting first male fighter after big IndieGoGo funding drive

Skullgirls developer Lab Zero Games is adding its first male combatant into the mix after it successfully raised $375,000 on IndieGoGo, in a fan-driven bid to keep the game growing.

Brenna recently interviewed the studio's boss Peter Bartholow about the Skullgirls funding project and the overwhelming support shown by fans. Get up to speed here.

Now, Polygon reports that the studio's new character - the wonderfully named 'Big Band' - will be joining the roster as a result of the funds raised. Here he is:

Once the campaign passes $400,000, Big Band will get his own stage and backstory, as well as DLC that changes the announcer voice to female.

The studio said that, "Big Band's massive mechanical body is heavily armed with pneumatic weapons capable of generating powerful blasts of pressurized air. As his name implies, woodwinds, brass and percussion instruments are his forte, so expect him to produce variously-sized horns, flutes and drums for his attacks. Defensively, you can expect him to make good use of that dusty coat."

He's rather massive, isn't he?

You can still contribute to the SkullGirls IndieGoGo funding drive, just head over to the campaign page and chuck them a quid or two.
