PES 2014 in development for next-gen using FOX Engine

PES 2014 is prepared for next-gen consoles to hit stores, and it is being developed with Konami's FOX Engine, according to a member of the development team.

That's the word at least in the latest issue of Edge, in which the magazine also spoke with PES creative producer Kei Masuda, who discussed the "overhaul" of the game's engine.

“We couldn’t really overhaul our old engine in the yearly development cycle,” Masuda said. “The schedule was too demanding. We reflected on the difficult transition from PS2 to PS3 and could see the next-gen coming. We needed to make a new engine."

The revamp of the game will not only include new physics, but a new control scheme which MCV says "detaches player movement from the ball and gives direct control to a player’s center of gravity."

Match momentum will also play a larger part in the revamp of the series, along with the obligatory visuals which come with a news engine and format.

No word on when it will release, but you can expect it sometime after next-gen hits your local shopping mart.
