Day 1 for me, but it does sound like the worst in the series so far…

Im getting a weird vibe off both this and Gears of War, I just don’t think they should have bothered, there doesn’t seem to be any passion in the production of both these titles.

A huge shame as they should both be flag ship exclusives for their respective platforms.

One thing that annoys me about this was the fact that someone mentioned the selectable weapons are gone from GOW3?!

Apparently you now have 3 versions of the ‘Blades’ and can pick up a few random weapons from the battlefield which sounds like a huge step back for me. The multiplayer has new weapons, but we all know the servers will be a barren wasteland in a few month’s so seems like a missed oppertunity to me.

It seems like Sony have had a lot of ‘average’ exclusives this generation.

Uncharted 3
Killzone 3
Motorstorm
God of War
Gran Turismo

All good games but never quite reaching the greatness of some multiplatforms. Even PSN games have killed their exclusive offerings by a long margin.

I wonder if that will repeat with PS4? Killzone looks very set to be an 7 or 8 / 10 game. Apart from the increased graphics, the gameplay looked identical to what we have already seen in Killzone 3 so far.

Never the less, I love me some God of War, it’s just a pity they seem to have lost their spark for the series. I can’t really see it getting much better on PS4, same with games like Gears on 720.

Some titles are just starting to look really outdated…

Needs a massive reboot, there is nothing wrong with it except I’ve played this game 6 times now. Hard to feel fresh, sure you traverse different lands, but it plays the same.

I said it more than once, but I just love to repeat myself:

New setting, new hero.

Here’s the Idea. Kratos wanders to the north, to the vikings and shit. Terrorizes their land, the gods can’t interfere because fuck you, maybe he took Odin hostage and the gods can’t help or something like that.

So they choose a champion, someone who fought against Kratos and lost or lost his home and family to that fucker. Someone young, someone who cares and has heart. So the new guy travels the land, fighting, killing creatures, trying to hunt down Kratos.

It’s basically God of War 1, but new weapons, new setting, new character and new story.

Seriously, there is NOTHING that could redeem Kratos anymore. Might as well make him the bad guy.

@54: the gowA demo contains lots of footage from the viking tv series…maybe that´s a hint? your idea doesn´t sound bad man! timeline wise not accurate, but it´s a game in the end….about ancient gods. everything goes storywise.

You should add Joystiq.com. They gave it a 3.5/5

I had to do a double take on that review someone linked to the Toronto Sun. lol

Rather than go into a long diatribe about how awful that newspaper is, or how it’s written at an 8th grade reading level, I’ll simply provide a link to some of it’s actual cover stories, and let them speak for themselves:

I look forward to playing this game…some time in 2015.

Why exactly would I go to a site called hardcore shooter to find out about a hack and slash title? It’d be like going to hackandslash.com to find out about Halo.

@54 – Why do we need a new hero? Kratos is who I want to play as in the fourth one. The story pretty much writes itself. Kratos can’t die and just wants to rest. He’s had his revenge and so he moves up North.

Meanwhile, “Athena” appears before the Norse gods and explains to them what he did to the Greek ones. It’d be like having a mass murderer move into your neighborhood, claiming “Oh, I’m done with killing now.” Of course, you wouldn’t want him there. So the Norse gods come gunning for Kratos and he kills them off.

After credits, reveal that “Athena” is actually Lucifer, trying to goad Kratos into eliminating all the other pantheons so that only he will be left as god.

The last thing I want is to play as some lame optimistic warrior trying to take down Kratos.

Good question Clupula. Thanks for the feedback. There are reasons behind our madness at hardcoreshooter.com

@62 – Thanks a lot. To me, it was the first thing I thought of, when Athena started acting so completely out of character in GOW 3.

Plus, it would very much mean GOW4 could be the first game of a new trilogy for the series.
