Mega Drive chip-tune album brings back nostalgic feelings

Chip-tune albums are commonly based on NES sound effects, but today you can wrap your ears around an album created entirely with Mega Drive / Genesis sounds, courtesy of composer Ario.

The album is entitled ‘Vurgon’ and can be found on Ario’s BandCamp profile. It’s a bleeping, blopping mix of slow atmospheric tunes and the brash punchy synth effects you could hear in games like Road Rash. It’s got a nostalgic, dirty vibe to it and should appease any fans of all things Sega.

You can stream the album for free via the link above or set your own price for a full download.

Let us know what you think.

‘Terevigliar’ kind of reminds me of Streets of Rage, but maybe that’s just me.

If you’re into that kind of music, maybe you should check out Suda51′s ‘sdatcher’ by Akira Yamaoka:

and maybe, just maybe you like the music from KGB – Conspiracy as well:
