BioWare: San Francisco shuttered, all staff laid off - rumour

Dragon Age: Legends developer BioWare San Francisco has been closed, with all jobs lost, according to reports citing anonymous sources.

Word of the lay-offs came via GamesRadar's sources and has been corroborated by IGN.

The studio employed between 25 and 30 staff, and all have ben laid off, the reports claim. Sources say the Californian location was "too expensive" for mobile development.

EA is yet to issue an official statement, but referred IGN to a statement regarding layoffs in LA and Montreal last month.

Previously known as EA2D, BioWare San Francisco focused on social and casual games for the web and mobile, notably Dragon Age: Legends and Mirror's Edge.

BioWare San Francisco had lost some employees recently, to the newly-founded Rumble, and at least one former staffer has expressed dissatisfaction with EA's management of the team.

No mention has been made of BioWare Social label-mate BioWare Sacramento, which houses the acquired Klicknation team.
