War of the Roses: monthly content drop includes fire arrows, Greenwood map

War of the Roses benefits from its regular free content update this month, adding a new map, weapons and armour, and the ability to use fire arrows. Expect to see plenty of these in action over the free Steam weekend.

The new update is called Outside the Law and seems to be whimsically Robin Hood-themed. It adds one new map, the Green Wood; its forest landscape is littered with fallen trees and tent camps.

Two new bows have been added, the Elm Self Bow and the Yew Self Bow, and both factions cna now use fire arrows, which unfortunately only set foes alight, no the whole forest.

Melee fans haven't been forgotten; check out the Woodsman’s Axe, Headsman’s Axe, Shillelagh Mace and Quarterstaff and more. On the armour side, try the new Bycocket Hat among other additions.

The update is out now, and War of the Roses is going free on Steam this weekend. Take the medieval multiplayer sim for a spin.
