Tomb Raider: opening scenes revealed – video

Lara Croft begins her adventure strung up in a tomb (not exactly the perfect way to start your day). The video after the jump reveals the game’s opening and how she ends up there.

Tomb Raider is out March 5th on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

Any video of a more substantial nature? :( (pref. with commentary) It’s like trying to prise tongue from frozen object with Square-Enix! They see fit to pass code a week in advance to media, but the people from whom they’re asking payment, they’re content to leave to guessing games.

How apt, that an article for Bioshock Infinite should be posted above this. Because I feel as if I know more about, and therefore generally feel better about that game from it’s sponsoring clips before TV program segments, than I do this. To my mind, they’ve not shown a lot either, but they have presented a firm impression, from the start, of what’s to come. I don’t feel as if they’ve been dishonest or been trying to mask things for their benefit.

That’s true, but they should permit their would-be purchasers sufficient info from which to make an informed decision. Now, even if not through disdain but mistake on their part, I don’t believe that to have been fulfilled. Additionally, I was looking to independently-directed video as the answer, not a slickly edited highlights reel.

As much as things may have changed for creators and issuers, so times are changing from the perspective of customers. No demos, leash-controlled pre-release info, as publishers wrangle for control back, and more. Is it any wonder that with little (restricted) openness follows questions, and uncertainty.
The alternative being, simply not to get it. Which I feel would be unfortunate, since I’ve bought and enjoyed each past game, and would count myself as a Tomb Raider fan.

Thanks to the latest Giant Bombcast, I know now that video curfews supersede and may survive those of text information. THAT’s why “video of a more substantial nature” is quite the ask, right now, given that the media is presently blocked up as to what they can publish in that format.
