Ubisoft denies Ancel departure rumours

Rayman Legends has been postponed to accomodate a multi-platform release later this year, much to the dislike of series creator Michel Ancel and his team. A new rumour suggested Ancel and some select developers would be quitting Ubisoft once the game goes to market. Ubisoft has now debunked the rumour.

In a statement sent to Eurogamer, a Ubisoft France spokesperson said of the below, "Unfounded rumours! Michel is currently working on Rayman Legends, a unique game that will be released on Wii U, Xbox 360 and PS3. Michel Ancel and Ubisoft therefore categorically deny these rumours."

However, this does not mean Ancel will stay at the studio once the game is complete, as per the original rumour. Decide for yourself below.

The rumour comes from French site GameKult, via sources close to the company.

Sources suggests that Ancel is entertaining the idea of taking some of his team and then leaving Ubisoft once the game launches, citing a desire for greater creative control over his work. Ubisoft has since denied the report's contents to GameKult however.

It follows a protest from Ancel and his staff at Ubisoft Montpelier over the game's delay.
