Beyond Good & Evil 2 was in the works for PS3, X360, Wii U – rumour

Monday, 25th February 2013 22:55 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Beyond Good & Evil 2 was in active development at Ubisoft Montpellier from 2007 to 2011, a staffer’s CV suggests.

According to the LinkedIn profile of an Ubisoft level designer, the project was slated for release on PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360.

It’s not clear if the 2011 end-date refers to the project going on hold, or if the staffer moved on to other tasks.

A sequel to the classic Michael Ancel action-adventure has popped up numerous times over the years, but has never made it as far as a full reveal. It’s now expected to arrive on next-generation hardware, which suggests the development period listed on the staffer’s CV was for an older attempt.

Ubisoft has said the game will be done when it’s done. Ubisoft Montpellier has turned its attention to Rayman, another Ancel creation, as well as ZombiU.

Thanks, GoNintendo.

Methinks I can see the confusion here. (Bad GoNintendo!)

“Level Designer – Killer Freaks / Beyond Good and Evil 2 ( WiiU and PS3, XBox 360)”

Killer Freaks was ZombiU before it became… ZombiU. ZombieU is a Wii U title. There’s separation between Wii U and PS3, 360 in the CV, as Mathieu’s talking about Killer Freaks (Wii U) and BGE2 (PS3, 360).

That has to be it, actually, considering Killer Freaks / ZombiU is not available on PS3 or 360.

Well, 2011 is when Ubi started doing Rayman Origins and effectively putting BG&E on hold, according to Ancel, so I’d say this is probably true… I’m more worried about the rumour of Ancel and Montpellier leaving Ubi, because this means there’s no chance of ever seeing the sequel made.

Is it just me or does it seem like Ancel’s team really wants to do games for Wii U (Original Freaks / ZombiU and then Rayman Legends) while the higher ups at Ubi want them to work on multiplatform games?
