    Sony is really pushing this, more than MH4 is being, in fact more than any game in recent times in Japan. Hopefully, this along with a very well timed price cut works well for vita.

    This game is just not coming out fast enough at all

    They are pushing this so hard, but at the same time it won’t be successfull at all compared to MH4. Not even close to MH2 numbers. So no one cares.

    Sony can expect God Eater level of success aka 500000 sales at max.

    The more Sony pushes this, the more it will sell. It’s that simple.

    Not really.

    In Japan Sony is not that strong as a gaming publisher. If for example Square Enix/Capcom released this under their name this would sell much more.

    It’s cultural preference really and not because Sony sucks at games there or marketing.

    “In Japan Sony is not that strong as a gaming publisher. If for example Square Enix/Capcom released this under their name this would sell much more.”
    It affects sales? Really? Almost all big 3rd party hitters are on PS, not ninty and others. Its more that only 1 of their 13 odd wws are japan based.

    “It’s cultural preference really”
    I really wonder why you think so. Do you have some proof to back this big claim?
    There is a famitsu ps magazine, but not a pc one.

    @4,
    Yup. Its about making a brand out of this game. It will be impossible to match mh4, simply because of install base. But this game has potential to do really well. The demo was awesome.

    @6, Everything there is based on cultural preference.
    That’s why no one plays Xbox 360 for example because for Japanese people it’s “Western Dog shit”. No matter what exclusive games there were at launch it’s still not helped MS to be better then Sony’s Playstation.

    No one plays PC there for example, except for hentai novel games and ma-a-aybe some MMORPG’s like Phantasy Star Online 2, but Vita version or any other console version will be 100% more successfull anyway.

    Sony is weaker then Nintendo in terms of brand too. You can see how much 3DS’s and PS3′s were sold or Wii consoles.
    You can see how much Marios sell there.

    and you can see how much PS Vita sells there.

    There was an amazing game from Sony Japan + Level 5. It was called Ni No Kuni. In Japan it was a failure for example and in the West it was a success.

    (!) The Most important part, to sell something in Japan you can’t have American or Anglo-Saxon business models or you will fail and that’s what Sony is doing there right now really.(!)

    quote from Kotaku: “…the Japanese should not copy the American or Anglo-Saxon business models…”

    @erth,
    “Sony is weaker then Nintendo in terms of brand too.”
    Its just not true. PS1 and 2 were market leaders by a long shot in japan and ps3 is just 1 million behind wii, despite costing way more than wii, and it will eventually cross wii. PSP also sold 20 m compared to ds 32 million, a margin that is way less than everywhere else.
    So no, home consoles of Sony have always had the edge and opposite for handhelds that ninty has the edge in.
    Also, Kotaku is shit. Their headless editors just want clicks. Most people believe this. That Brian Ashcraft guy is as clueless and dumb as Jim Sterling.

    It’s true no matter how you love Sony.

    PS1 and PS2 era they made a lot of things right. They had games for Japan and Sony brand globally and especially in Japan was stronger.

    Now, it’s different.

    “and ps3 is just 1 million behind wii”

    but it’s still behind no matter how you put it.
    Fact is that Wii is the winner of 7th generation console and Sony so far is in third place in terms of sales. Xbox 360 is in second place.

    “Also, Kotaku is shit. Their headless editors just want clicks. Most people believe this. That Brian Ashcraft guy is as clueless and dumb as Jim Sterling.”

    you just hate truth and that’s it.

    @Dragon Calling Jim Sterling dumb and Brian Ashcraft clueless is quite a stretch. Actually I think he is somewhat clever. I don’t know what your achievements in life are regarding gaming journalism but they must be immense, considering your harsh words towards two of the worlds best known gaming journalists … oh well.

    @10,
    I like Totilo and Dale from those very sites, since they, like the best journos, don’t try to force their opinions on others, like vg247 editors.
    That is one of the reasons why I am starting to dislike Greg Miller too, since he has lately become too arrogant on podcasts.
    Colin Campbell is also good.

    @erth,
    About Kotaku, ask others too. They are more like a tabloid now, a source for sensationalistic journalism. Many feel like that, so I am definitely not alone in that. This is one of the main reasons I stick to vg247. No fluff, only stuff.
    Its not my problem if you see things only one way.
