PlayStation Store updated to streamline free downloads

The PlayStation Store has been updated, according to Gematsu. The update removes the checkout process when picking up free content, saving valuable seconds on each transaction. We haven’t heard anything about this through the usual channels, presumably because Sony’s quite busy with other matters at the moment.

… This has been the case for at least the last 2 weeks, if not even longer…

It’s been this way for a good week and let me be frank about it: it’s bullshit.

One of the important things about the checkout process of both paid and free content was the ability of keeping the content in your “Downloadable Content” page and then download it when you want, a good thing if you have already filled your HDD to the brim.

Yes, I have 19GB left in my 320GB PS3 and I want to have a bit of “breathing space” in my HDD, sue me.

Too bad download speed for patches on PSN are BROKEN. I can’t even call it slow, that’s a LIE. It’s just not working.
@3 Good point. I find it super annoying. Especially on Vita (it’s same there). Fucking idiotic. If I buy something that doesn’t mean I want to download it at the same time.
