Yoshida will be “heartbroken” if PS4 launches without Vita Remote Play

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has said he expects Vita Remote Play to be functional for most PlayStation 4 games at system launch.

“We are saying virtually every PS4 game will be playable on PS Vita via Remote Play,” Yoshida told press at a round table following the PS4 reveal, as reported by Gamespot.

“I would be heartbroken if it doesn’t day one. On day one, my expectation is that we have to have all games work on PS Vita.”

Yoshida wasn’t able to comment on rumours that newly announced premium network services like Vita Remote Play, spectator mode, and remote assist will be locked behind an Xbox Live Gold-like paywall.

“We totally believe that we want to provide more functionality and more services and more content on the network. And so we are looking at how we are going to structure that,” he said.

“And we are not ready to talk about that.”

Sony sure are liking their caveats, lately. Serious question: Should this be expected. Should it be accepted that they simply do not have the answers to give; or, is their possible chicanery due to not wanting to give damaging responses? There is some suspicion about, that Sony are waiting for Microsoft to take the “used games” bullet, and that the “vagueness” is intentional…It seems unlikely, but some of these answers are strange!

Waiting for Microsoft to bite the bullet first would be smart.

Unless Microsoft support used games with no caveats. Risky move.

Let’s hope nobody wants to “break” Mr. Yoshida’s heart, playing remotely is somthing I would like to do with ps3, why is it that they cannot do it with all ps3 games? does it infringe patents?

I think part of the gain in doing this, setting Remote Play to system level on PS4, is indeed so that they remove a reason for people to be trying to enable such compatibility themselves.
As for PS3: look at this – – Licenses, and other explanations.
