Having twice been refused classification, the latest Mortal Kombat game may finally be on its way to retail release in Australia.
Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition has picked up an R18+ rating from the Australian Classification Board for “high impact violence, blood and gore”.
The fighter also won moderate impact warnings for adult themes and language, as well as mild content warnings for nudity and sex.
Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition includes the core game, released in April 2011, and all DLC to date; it arrived in international markets in early 2012. The base game was refused classification, as was the Vita version of the Komplete Edition.
Australia’s R18+ classification came into effect on January 1, although Queensland is yet to introduce supportive legislation. I’ve asked Warner Bros. when we might expect to see Mortal Kombat hit Australian retail, and whether the Vita port is on the way.
Thanks, Player Attack.
