Hideo Kojima will detail the FOX Engine for first time through a demonstration featuring Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes at GDC. The session, “Photorealism Through the Eyes of a ‘Fox’ – The Core of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes” will show some of the “key components and unique methods” used in the game’s development, according to GDC organizers. The talk will focus on the lighting system, environmental elements, and character realism among other things including the FOX Engine tools. Technical director Junji Tago, lighting artist Masayuki Suzuki, and CG art director Hideki Sasaki will join Kojima on stage. GDC takes place March 25-29 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

I’m looking forward to seeing more of the Fox Engine and especially ‘Ground Zeroes’. My only hope is that they were briefed on the possible “next generation” consoles, so that they haven’t made the engine solely based upon PS3 and 360 capabilities.

No engine developer would build an engine to be capped. They will it in a way that’s modular and can scale with the systems it will be working with.

Also I wouldn’t get excited about seeing Ground Zero in depth because GDC is not aimed at consumers and gamers. its for the developers and publishers.

I hope GZ is for PlayStation 3 with a PC port later for those only on the graphics stuff and shit. I wish The Phantom Pain is/or is in the same game too.
