Avalanche teases new game in development with Twitter image

Avalanche Studios Christofer Sundberg has tweeted a teaser image of a game in development at the firm. You can have a look at it through the link. Last week, it was rumored that Avalanche was working on Just Cause 3 and Mad Max for next-gen, and if we were to guess, that screen looks rather Mad Max-ish to us. Then again, it could be anything. In 2010, God of War’s Cory Barlog was reportedly working on the Mad Max title at Avalanche, but as of last year, Barlog is now working at Crystal Dynamics.

I see Rico’s harness in that image, instead.

Can it be? That’s fucking Road Rash!! Dude getting kicked away by another rider on a bike, who’s wielding a weapon instead of holding handlebars. The scenery is like those featured in the originals, too.

I don’t think it’s Road Rash, it looks more like Max Max. WW2-style bike with sidecar and what looks like post-apoc gear on the characters.

Road Rash tended to have roads and stuff :P

I do love open world games. Here’s hoping that whatever this is follows Just Cause 2 at least as far as open world creation goes. :)

Here is the direct link to the image, by the way.

We have what looks like desert/mountainous terrain, and RR did feature gangs of bikers. Is that thing to the right of the bike the sidecar you’ve picked out?
I thought Mad Max was all about dune buggies, and custom-armoured trucks and other vehicles.

@3: It also tended to have illegal races, which could believably be held in out of the way areas, if they were going for a realism angle to sell the impact of the brutal battling during events. It absolutely could be MM, or a just cause, but in the moment it reminded me most of Road Rash. :)

@7 I don’t blame you, but I think you’re speculating there :P

Desert = Mad Max
Scavenged gear = Mad Max
Rough vehicles = Mad Max

When Soundgarden manages a comeback before Road Rash does, you know someone has been fucking with the space time continuum.
