PlanetSide 2: PhysX support incoming, but you can use it now thanks to tweak
PlanetSide 2 is getting the PhysX treatment, courtesy of Nvidia. The option to turn it on is there already, but it’s greyed out. However, determined gamers have found a sneaky little workaround to enable it ahead of it. As such, footage of the mode enabled has surfaced online.
PCGamesN reports that the PhysX option is currently unavailable, but has offered a tweak to get it running.
I know dick-all about PC mods or fixes, so rather than me spraffing my way through the steps, here’s what the site suggests:
“Find your useroptions.ini file, which should be in the Planetside 2 folder within Steam (X:\Steam\steamapps\common\PlanetSide 2) and open it up in a text editor. Look for the second section of settings, which will be called [Rendering].
Add these two lines to the end of it:
ForceGpuPhysics=1
GpuPhysics=1″
This will enable PhysX in a flash. Here’s some captured footage to prove it:
What do you think?

Is it still only possible to use a nVidia GPU for PhysX with regedits if your main card is AMD? Or is possible to just use official drivers in some way?

^I think you can rig PhysX to work with AMD cards. But i’m not sure. I know however that Nvidia owns the PhysX technology, so that is why it won’t work out of the box with AMD.
