God of War: Ascension's R18+ rating sparks new Australian debate over classification

God of War: Ascension is the latest game to earn the the coveted R18+ age classification in Australia. Lobby group Electronic Frontiers Australia has now called on Queensland residents to kick up a stink over the way mature games are handled at retail in the region.

Kotaku AU reports that a leaked internal memo has shown that once a game like God of War: Ascension is given a R18+ rating, Queensland stores must remove all mention of the title, including all marketing material from stores effective immediately.

The EFA isn't happy however, and is calling on concerned consumers to voice their concerns on the way mature-rated games are swept under the rug in Queensland.

The site adds that the Classification of Computer Games and Images Amendment Bill is the first item on the agenda of Queensland's parliament, so the issue could be raised and discussed further.
