BioShock Infinite: Levine explains frustration at multiplayer rumours
BioShock Infinite head Ken Levine has told of his frustration when met with rumours surrounding the game’s ‘troubled’ development, as well as speculation that suggested the game’s multiplayer was causing all heaps of trouble.

Speaking with OPM, Levine said of rumours surrounding the game’s ‘troubled’ development, “It was a little frustrating for us. We didn’t have any news for so long it allowed time for speculation”.
One cause for speculation was the game’s multiplayer. We reported on rumours that it had been axed due to resource concerns here.
However, Levine has addressed this issue as well, stating, “We were very careful never to say there was multiplayer in the game. It was a little frustrating for us to say it has been cut when we never announced it in the first place.
“We didn’t want to talk about anything regarding that (multiplayer) because we weren’t sure about it. In the same way we weren’t sure about a million things – you’ll see the art book when it comes out and you’ll see a million characters that were cut; a million levels that were changed, ideas for weapons were thrown out.
“It’s just part of the process and we are fortunate as a company that we are able to do that kind of stuff”.
Levine does shed light on why the game’s multiplayer was binned early on – it simply didn’t meet expectations, “We aren’t going to add something on the box we don’t feel is at a quality level of the rest of the game. We never got to that point and it was hard. We all knew going in at Irrational, everything you work on, if the rest of the team don’t feel it’s going to work as part of a package, then it’s not going to make it”.
Are you glad the game has skipped over multiplayer? Let us know below.

Over the moon that there’s no multiplayer. Not all games need it.

For me, if it would of had multiplayer I would of bought it day one. Now, i’ll just get it whenever, don’t think there’s a rush.

They better have a decently long and replay worthy SP to make up for the lack of MP.

I don’t think the pop psychology department would survive that encounter.
Focus groups aren’t doing anyone any favors though.

Finally a game without fucking multiplayer! So sick of it ruining SP in every game out there… Games could’ve been so much longer and better if not for multiplayer! You want to socialise, get your fat ass to a pub or something.
